Violet is now 7 months and I thought it would be nice to tell you my favorite unconventional items thus far. We all know the necessities, but what about the out of the box stuff you might have missed? These are all products that flew over my head while I was pregnant.
I’ve seen the way influencers try to force-feed their sponserships and affliated products down my throat. Trust me, I’ve been convinced with some of them. But this is not it.
I’m not going to give you any specific product, just the general products and then list what I use exactly. Only for inspiration. None of my links are affliated whatsoever.
Okay, yes this is conventional. But before you come at me, I had regular shmegular cream for my baby. Guess what? my baby did not come out regular shmegular. Violet broke out in rashes and baby acne 24 hours after she was born. I think due to the hospital swaddles not being clean. Anyway, not just any cream worked for her.
As the days progressed, her rashes didn’t go away and her acne grew worse. So after some research, only a couple of products worked for her.
Tubby Todd AOO– For acne and mild rashes
Cali Baby Calendula Cream– For harsh rashes
*Also, Coconut Oil was the only thing that worked on my daughter’s cradle cap. It would go away and come back, but coconut oil made it go away in one day and kept it away.
White noise is our holy grail to help our baby go to sleep. When the world is just too exciting and every noise is fascinating, can you blame them?
We live right off a busy street and Nessie (our dog) barks at the mailman from time to time. So keeping Violet asleep was a struggle. We depended on Youtube videos but they only last for so long and so does our battery. One day, Joey came home from a quick trip to Target with a sound machine in hand. It’s been our go-to ever since.
Bottle Drying Rack
Maybe you thought of this? Maybe you haven’t? I sure as heck didn’t.
Anyone that knows me knows I am a cross-contanimation and somewhat of a organization freak.
As well as being a space saver, this also gives me peace knowing my baby’s stuff has the least amount of chance of being contaminated.
This is for my formula feeding moms! Even if you’re exclusively breastfeeding but need to supplement here or there. This is a great investment for on the go!
For my sustainable moms out there! As I’m trying to become more environmentally conscience (keyword: TRYING), I have been buying more bamboo based kitchenware.
I wanted to apply this to Violet’s dishware and invested in spoons. So far we like them, easy to use and clean, and we feel good using them too.
*Also, I have been using the Babyfoode website/blog for puree recipes. I will be buying her book soon because I love the blog so much!
Yes babies need a toothbrush. I did not know this, I don’t think my parents knew this either. But when babies teeth first pop out, brushing them promotes good dental hygeine habits and healthy teeth even if they are just baby teeth.
The only specific item on here because I don’t think there is another one like it.
Violet has had A LOT of nasal issues since birth. She hated the syringe and we did too. This feels a bit pricey but it does the job! She also thinks it’s funny when we have to use it so it’s rarely a battle anymore.
There are so many things on the market today for babies. This is great but can also be overwhelming. Don’t sweat it if you didn’t get the fanciest of products for your little one. They grow up and grow so fast out of pretty much everything. Just remember, as long as it’s safe and makes the babe happy then go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back!
Keep up the good work mamas and dadas♥
Reminder: Every baby is different. There are things babies will not bother with. These are just what worked for my baby and hopefully for yours too!
